Both producers and farmers

Since 1951, Salumificio Pedrazzoli is one of the few pork meat factories in Italy to be both producer and farmer. With regard to this point, it is a unique structure between the companies in the same sector: what makes us stand out above all is that the whole chain consists of farm owned by the Pedrazzoli family, guaranteeing a supply chain that the whole chain consists of farms is very closely controlled and resulting in excellent quality products. Ours is therefore a closed-loop company; breeding, slaughtering and processing are all effectively integrated activities. Quality control and familiarity with the raw ingredients used – starting with the breeding of the pigs – are linked closely to nature and the territory, to the people and know-how that have always been our strength.

Conventional and organic farming

The breeding farms are basically composed by the same number of animals and they are divided in: conventional and organic. The Conventional farming relies on the use of methods and recipes handed down directly from the old Italian butchery traditions, particularly the one in the province of Mantua in particular, guaranteeing the production of salami without parallel throughout the world.

Our conventional pigs have barns that are well-protected and insulated, in order to maintain the internal temperature at a constant level. They are reared with particular focus on the choice of diet, specially designed to guarantee consistent meats that are excellent for pork butchery production.

The Organic farming, on the other hand, is carried out mainly at Malavicina farm (which is also owned and run by us) that includes two sow farms and seven outdoor rearing sites. We therefore place particular focus on the quality of the animals life and their nutrition: in particular, we study their diet with a careful selection of noble raw materials (corn, barley, wheat, bran and soya; all rigorously organic) and we also give great importance to the animal-land connection, that is always kept very low to the safeguard the natural needs of both the animals and the environment.

Our organic pigs are also subject to veterinary visits… but they are treated with homeopathic medicines.

Being both producer and farmer, Salumificio Pedrazzoli is able to control the quality of the entire supply chain for both traditional and organic production.
